What smoothst collects, why, and how to get rid of it. Written from what the code actually does, not from a template.

Before launch: the data controller details below need filling in, and the ICO registration needs completing. Until then treat this page as a draft.

Who is responsible

smoothst is operated by [your name or company, and a contact address]. That is the data controller for everything on this page. Questions, corrections and deletion requests go to [contact email].

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under [registration number].

What we collect

WhatWhyHow long
Your email addressIt is how you sign in. There is no password. Until you delete your account
Your handle, home area, stance and setup So other skaters know who left a rating. All optional except the handle. Until you delete your account
Ratings, bust reports, spots and routes you add They are the point of the app. Other people see them. Indefinitely, see below
Coordinates at the moment you rate something Only to check you were actually there. Never shown to anyone. With the rating
Recorded routes, if you use the recorder To draw the run you did and work out its length. Until you delete it

Things we deliberately do not do

These were design decisions, and they are worth stating plainly because they are unusual:

What is stored on your device

All of this is strictly necessary for the app to work, so none of it needs a cookie banner under PECR:

Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email [contact email] and we will respond within one month.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your email and your recorded routes. Ratings and reports you left are anonymised rather than removed, because deleting them would silently change the safety information other skaters are relying on. If you want them gone entirely, say so and we will remove them.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Plenty of skaters are under 18. smoothst is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly hold their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that matters, you will be told in the app rather than by a quiet edit to this page.
